Rotation 3: Graffiti and Portraiture Painting

Through the lens of street art, students discussed the work of various artists and how it can impact communities. This study led to creating stencils for their own graffiti inspired wall designs. Students learned how to design and cut their own stencils and the use of spray paint to create finished pieces related to the theme of: What Now?

In the Culture group, students painted portraits using the principles of art and design while exploring their own cultural identity. Students were able to design a self-portrait or a portrait of another person. Students learned how to apply a variety of brushstroke techniques, using acrylic paint, and color mixing when painting a portrait.
