Today was the first session of Rotation 3 — the last rotation before our final art exhibit!
In the Identity group, students explored using mindfulness as a way to enhance their art-making practice. Students learned cyanotype, a technique of exposing photographic paper to light. Objects were added on top of the paper, leaving traces and outlines of various shapes and forms. They also talked about creating portraits using objects to express one’s identity, and made collages to explore this idea further. As the rotation progresses we’ll continue incorporating mindfulness into our cyanotype identity portrait collages!
In the Environment group, students got a chance to explore a wealth of materials using assemblage. These will be expanded upon and built out over the coming weeks. Thanks to Materials for the Arts for helping us find some diverse and creative materials!
