Second Day of Rotation One – Mandala and Black Out Poetry Inspiration

This week at City Art Lab was exciting as the teens delved further into their themes of Roots/History and Transformation. In our Roots/History group, we looked at mandalas as compositional inspiration and a way to layer symbols that relate to our backgrounds and identities. In the Transformation group, the teens continued to look at blackout poetry as a way of transforming the materiality of newspaper, referring to the work of Adrian Piper and using charcoal. Great job to the teens and the teaching artists!! Here is some of the great work that came out of the projects:
