The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is currently accepting applications for Spring 2011 Internships in all Museum departments. The Spring Internship Program begins on Monday, January 10th and will end Friday, April 15th. Spring internships are a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week and a number of departments require a 3/4 day commitment. Application deadline for spring internships is November 1st, 2010 (postmark). Prospective applicants must be at least of junior-year college-level to be considered for the Internship Program.
Program Description: The objective of the Internship Program is to offer practical and educational museum experience to individuals interested in pursuing careers in the arts or museum-related fields. All interns are assigned to a department based on their academic background, professional skills, interests, and career goals. Interns participate in the ongoing work of the department and complete specific projects or portions of larger departmental initiatives. We encourage all prospective applicants to view our web site www.guggenheim.org/internships for a full list of departments that offer internships.
Museum Culture Seminar Program: The Museum Culture Seminar Program forms an integral part of our internship program, meeting most Fridays throughout the semesters. The program includes field trips to sites such as auction houses, galleries, corporate collections, artists’ studios, and other museums. Discussion with Guggenheim Museum staff from a range of departments and awareness of a range of museum-related issues is facilitated. A field trip outside New York is planned for every semester.
